The National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company in Tunisia is committed to actively participating in this collective approach by working hard to improve the water distribution infrastructure and increase its efficiency. "For this 5th edition of the Mediterranean Water Forum, the IME, its members and partners, as well as its scientific and technical committee, propose to act upon four pillars of the wise use of water that could guide public policies and decision-makers of all stakeholders, including civil society. These pillars are:

1. protecting natural resources.
2. implementing policies of moderation in various uses.
3. ensuring optimal efficiency of existing facilities.
4. developing alternative, so-called unconventional resources while ensuring their association with renewable energies.

Together, during this forum, we can be heard and contribute to the transition, and if necessary, the transformation of public policies in our respective countries for a reasoned and reasonable use of water resources."

At the heart of the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum lies a dedicated platform that envisions the future of our region. The resonating theme, “Together for shared water sobriety”, serves as a compelling call to action. In this edition, we do not only embrace water conservation as a collective commitment but also recognize the critical importance of ensuring equal opportunity for access to water, where access to water has been rightfully labeled by the United Nations as a fundamental right underscoring our shared responsibility to make water a cornerstone of our communities. With the upcoming World Water Forum in Bali on the horizon, our commitment extends beyond mere words. We aspire to unite voices and initiatives, emphasizing the imperative to allocate adequate funds to secure the sustainability of water resources. Join us on this collective journey towards a future where water in the Mediterranean is a tool for peace, sustainability, and prosperity.

L’eau est notre futur et nous voulons un futur de paix et de prospérité. Tous les trois ans nous organisons avec un pays hôte, un Forum mondial de l’eau. En mai 2024, ce sera avec nos amis indonésiens à Bali. Les Forums fondent leurs racines sur 3 pieds principaux : Un pied thématique pour décliner les principaux usages de l’eau. Un pied politique pour promouvoir l’engagement d’États et d’autorités locales. Et enfin un pied régional pour collecter les solutions locales pour l’accès à l’eau et à l’assainissement. La Méditerranée, berceau de tant de civilisations est l’un d’entre eux. Grâce à l’engagement de l’Institut méditerranéen de l’eau et à celui de la Tunisie, le Forum méditerranéen de l’eau se tiendra du 5 au 7 février prochain à Tunis. Nous en attendons beaucoup et en premier lieu, l’affirmation solidaire d’une mer protégée pour des terres abreuvées. Honoré de vous retrouver à Tunis dans les semaines à venir.
